Here are my two pieces for the month of January. My concentration is "exploring how textures of fabrics and environments work together."
#1
This one is focused on knits.
#2
I made this dress out of bath towels as a part of a required project to apply to Parsons. Coincidentally, it fit well with my concentration. This one is focused on softness, delicateness, fog, steam...
I honestly don't have a lot to say about the knit piece...it's so good and well-presented! Maybe adding some different varieties of knits would be good though, like a hat or headband? Though keeping it simple with just scarves and sweaters worked really well for this photograph. I'm a bit confused on what is at the bottom right corner (a blanket?)...what was the purpose for that being there? For balance, color, just because?
ReplyDeleteFor the towel piece, the photograph is very well taken. The shadow behind her add depth to the picture which is super cool. And the fact that she is in a bathtub seems really appropriate! What if her hair was wet? I think that would be pretty interesting.
Nice job Claire! :)
the towel dress photo works well in my opinion because of the lighting. having the light shining from the side has allowed the folds and detail in the dress to be accentuated-sp? you know what i'm tryna say.. && the location with the tiles in the back makes it work well too, and i agree with nina on the shadow creating depth behind devon! it helps create the illusion of a for-middle-and background when really theres just devon and a wall. GOOD JOB:))
ReplyDeleteI like both of the photos, however I think that the bottom one could have been taken much farther as far as the steam and fog goes. Maybe if her hair would have been a little wet and if the picture was more obscured. Like almost when you breath on the lens of the camera and before you wipe it off if you take a picture you can still see everything but everything is a little obscured. Also the white dress gets lost against the white tile so it makes the value in the picture pretty dull. I agree with Nina about the blanket I think that it is a little distracting and that the picture may be better off without it. The top one has awesome color and contrast though!! Over all both of the pictures are great and I like them a lot!
ReplyDeleteI like the Harmony in the first one and how it's framed. It's asthetically pleasing. Will can strike one hell of an expression. The second one I'm kind of indifferent about. I like the Balane and the fact that it's made out of bath towels is very clever. It just doesn't hit me like the first one does. Keep up the good work
ReplyDeleteI love seeing this first picture because I know they are so out of there element but they come across as so natural in all these beautiful knits! I think the outdoor background was a wonderful choice. The different textures of the ivy(?) and all the clothing really compliment each other. The only thing that bugs me is the orange thing on the bottom right.
ReplyDeleteFor the second photo--First of all amazing dress! I want my towel to be that pretty. Bathtub pictures are usually really cliche and myspace-y if you're pickin up what im layin down. (what?!) but this is obviously the perfect setting for this photo shoot. I think it's important that it really focuses on the dress and not the model. I would like to see her standing up though. (:
So, just sayin', Johnny and Will should totally date...oh! and of course, as always, you rock at art in every way possible. The end.
